I think it's because the work is too physically taxing. I've done "men's work," pre-press used to be men's work, and that wasn't hard, and law used to be men's work, and that isn't hard, but I am not as strong as most men, and I don't give a rat's ass who hears me say it. If framing is too hard for 6'2" Paul, it's gonna be too hard for 5'8" Cobalt, you betcha.
BTW, drove out to the Edible Landscaping Nursery in Afton today, it's maybe 25 miles west of Charlottesville, and bought pawpaw, pecan, fig, grape, gooseberry and blackberry plants. They didn't have any semi-dwarf apples, and were out of good cherries and raspberries. The back of Rover looked like a jungle. Chris started getting interested, he's the one who wanted the gooseberries and the pecans. The lady said, "pecans take ten years," and we said, "better get started, then." |
