The pecan is the State Tree of Texas. A good choice, but I probably would have picked the live oak, which which looks more like "Texas" to me. Most Texans pronounce the tree peh-CAHN, but sometimes PEE-can is heard. Either way, pecan pie at Thanksgiving dinner is great treat.
