Morning report from CC Here is what I have heard about operations at the site: 1. They were running a caliper log for a routine check of the hole gauge. It'll highlight any caved in sections (common in shales) and porous permeable sands where there is a buildup of filtercake. 2. They have entered the 1st Carneros Sands of the Temblor formation. According to Hilton's news release from last Monday, "The 1st Carneros is in the transition between shale and sand. Historically this is the poorest quality sand package." They have encountered the first thin layer of gas bearing sands within the 1st Carneros. Gas readings increase over four times when they entered the first payzone and the drilling penetration rate tripled. 3. They changed the drill bit and have resumed drilling . 4. A flare may occur at any time now. Remember, that a "flare" versus "no flare" is only a function of mud weight versus the pressures of the formations being drilled. Theoretically they can drill through gas bearing sands without flaring. That should be enough hot air for a while :-) LHG
