Bought RAD [Rite-Aid] on following reasons:

Technical bounce/near-term breakout. . .though long-term still very weak. . .

Rite-Aid was awarded pharmacy contract with Healtheon . . . you order your prescription online through Healtheon, then pick it up at local Rite-Aid.

Rite-Aid made a major investment in Drugstore.com. . .which some expect will be the Amazon of the prescription biz.

Adding ATM machines to their bricks & mortar stores. . .

To me these deals show that management has taken Rite-Aid in the right direction for the biggest growth in the sector come the new millenium. CVS, Eckard, Walgreens and Longs have not made these same news. . . .the only one that is even close is Phar-Mor. . .but they carry much cash flow baggage from earlier management problems. And their deals are small time by comparison to those of Rite-Aid.

Retail stocks are also at lows here. . .so as the sector turns, even more strength could be seen.

This is a position play on the turn, yet could also be a long-termer. . .since it has lost so much ground in recent years. . . and since it will take a half year or more to see some of the new revs from these internet deals.
