Dan Niles of Robertson Stephens issued a report on Cypress today. Here are details:

1. View core product demand as very strong with a book-to-bill near 1.3. Cypress' core products are on fire especially in the communications end markets. Pricing is firm to up in memory related products and the corporate average is fairly stable. The biggest challenge is accelerating production to avoid heavy customer delinquencies.

2. Acquired products from Intel and Altera should add an estimated $0.10 to 2000 EPS. We believe that the licensed USB product line from Intel could add close to $0.05 to 2000 EPS for Cypress and lead to total market share of nearly 75% in certain USB peripherals. The acquisition of Altera's MAX5K family could also add approximately $0.05 to 2000 EPS and remove an alternate source for this 70% gross margin product.

3. We are raising our year-end price target to $30 from $25. We urge investors to take advantage of the recent stock weakness driven, we believe, by a difficult technology tape. We believe strong quarterly results, however, will drive the stock price much like on Friday when Microchip rose $6.56 and MIPS rose $3.38 with the market down 277. We believe Cypress' valuation of 20x our 2000 EPS estimate is also compelling given a 23x S&P500 multiple.
