If enough people fear history repeating itself and act accordingly, it will become a self-fulfilling prophesy. But then, if you are talking about last year's history - the winners were those that bought in October and held through the rough spots ... look at some of the charts. You will see last Oct. was a rough month for many stocks - but within 6-8 months thereafter, they hit new highs. Check out vthe 12 month charts on LU, CSCO, INTC, MSFT, MU, AOL ... all of these hit new highs within 6-9 months after last October.
