EP # 3 Announces 810% Increase in Third Quarter 1999 Earnings
somewhere USA, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- EP #3 - news) today reported sales and earnings for its third quarter ended September 24, 1999. Sales for the third quarter increased 315% to $61,603,000 from $14,832,000 for the same period last year. Net income for the third quarter of 1999 increased 810% to $7,453,000 from $819,000 for the third quarter of 1998. Diluted earnings per share were $.45, compared to $.05 in the third quarter of 1998, an increase of 800% on 10% more shares outstanding.

Sales for the nine months ended September 24, 1999 increased 278% to $164,978,000, compared to $43,611,000 for the same period in 1998. Net income for the nine months ended September 24, 1999 increased 474% to $14,340,000, or $.88 per diluted share, as compared to $2,498,000, or $.19 per diluted share in 1998.

Mr. A. President and CEO, stated, ''We are very proud of our strong third quarter financial results. Our continued focus on improving gross and operating margins has generated record earnings in the third quarter. During the third quarter, improvements made in plant utilization and new capacity that came on stream reduced our outsourcing requirements. At the same time we continued to tightly control costs and improve our product mix. The result of these actions was to increase operating income to 19.2% of sales from 14.3% reported in the second quarter of 1999.''
