With 250 million units shipped and a code compatible roadmap to the future,
the TMS320C5000 (tm) DSP platform from TI is the clear choice for designing
next-generation digital communications applications. Please go to
ti.com for complete specs and technical documentation, or
read on for news about the world's most popular DSPs - and an free tools offer
from TI.

TMS320C5420 in volume production today:
The 'C5420 is the most highly integrated fixed-point DSP available and is in
volume production today. This device consists of two DSP cores on single chip
with 200 million instructions per second (MIPS) of performance while consuming
less than 260 mW of power.

'C5420 features include:
* 200K words of RAM
* Six serial ports
* DMA controller
* 16-bit host port interface (HPI)
* 12 x 12 x 1.4 mm microStar (TM) BGA

TMS320C5402 in volume production today:
The 'C5402 delivers up to 100 MIPS for only $5 (50K unit quantity price),
making it the industry's most cost-effective, general-purpose solution for
single-channel, end-user terminals such as wireless modems, next-generation
personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Ethernet phones.

TMS320C5409 sampling today:
The 100 MIPS 'C5409 integrates 32K words of SRAM, 16K words of ROM, three
multi-channel buffered serial ports (McBSP), DMA controller and a HPI.
Sampling today, this device provides high performance, low-power consumption
and a small form factor making it well suited for audio and portable consumer
applications, wireless and cordless telephones, miniaturized hands-free
wireless communications and IP phones.

NEW 'C5402 and 'C5409 ultra-low voltage DSPs sampling today:
New, ultra-low voltage 'C5402 and 'C5409 devices are sampling today.
Consuming as little as 15mW of power, these ultra-low voltage devices are well
suited for battery-powered personal medical devices such as cochlear implants
and hearing aids as well as wireless and telephony devices.

Ultra-low voltage 'C5402 and 'C5409 devices include:
* TMS320UC5402-1.8V core and I/O
* TMS320UC5409-1.8V core and I/O
* TMS320UVC5402-1.2V core, 1.8V I/O
* TMS320UVC5409-1.2V core, 1.8V I/O

Code Composer Studio (tm) for C5000 DSP's are now shipping:
The Code Composer Studio integrated development environment (IDE) provides the
DSP industry's first truly intuitive, easy-to-use, development tool interface
and comes complete with a powerful list of features to reduce development
time. Features that include real-time system analysis, data visualization and
standardized application programming interfaces, which allow users to extend
the environment with plug-ins.

TMS320C5000 Code Composer Studio includes:
* Code Composer Studio IDE including debugger, editor, profiler and project
manager
* Industry's first Visual Linker (available 1Q00)
* DSP/BIOS
* Real-Time Data eXchange (RTDX(tm))
* Efficient C compiler/assembler/linker tools
* Instruction set architecture simulator

New TMS320C5000 Code Composer Studio Free Evaluation Tools (FETs) from Texas
Instruments are full-featured, full-function 30-day time-limited versions of
the C5000 DSP's software development tools, and are now available for download
at ti.com The Code Composer
Studio FETs are new and improved C5000 development tools and will run even if
you have already downloaded and used a prior version of the C5000 DSP
platform's FETs.

eXpressDSP (tm) Real-time Software Technology:
Texas Instruments has also created a complete open software development
environment with the introduction of eXpressDSP Real-time Software Technology.
eXpressDSP provides a combination of software coding standards with integrated
tools for both the host PC and the target C5000 DSP so design engineers have a
complete environment that simplifies the entire development process and gets
you to market faster. For more information go to
