Digital Microwave Corporation Signs Major Infrastructure Partnering Agreement

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave
Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC), today announced that the Company
has entered into a strategic partnership sales agreement with
a major telecommunications infrastructure provider. The
agreement includes a number of products in Digital
Microwave's extensive line of radio products and associated
network management. The non-exclusive agreement has an
estimated value in excess of $100 million over a three-year
period. The products are to be deployed globally in
developing and expanding communications networks used for
broadband wireless access, cellular and other types of
telecommunications services. The sales value contained in the
agreement is estimated and is not a guaranteed level, and it
could be less than or greater than the estimate.

"We are pleased to announce the expansion of our relationship
with a major telecommunications infrastructure company," said
Charles Kissner, Digital Microwave's Chairman and CEO. "This
type of agreement represents the results of focused efforts
on global partnering that the Company launched to develop new
channels to market for the Company's new, broader product line."

The products included in this agreement include the
innovative Altium(TM) broadband radio, which offers 155 Mbps
capacity in 28 MHz of spectrum. On October 4, the Company
announced that as of December, 1999, the product will be
shipping in frequencies of 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 23, 26,
28, and 31 GHz, and Altium 38 GHz radios will be available in
the first part of year 2000. The Altium radio offers the
highest spectral efficiency and fullest coverage of
frequencies of any wireless broadband access radio on the market.

Additional products covered in the agreement include the
Company's narrowband and long-haul radio products and network
management system. The SPECTRUM(TM) II, XP4 and DART(TM)
products are low-cost, quickly deployable radios providing
dedicated DS-1/E1 to DS-3/E3 capacities. The radios are used
extensively for interconnection of base stations in mobile
networks worldwide. The Company's DXR(TM) product line
includes the recently released DXR 700, which is a medium-
capacity, point-to-point radio solution offering exceptional
dispersive fade margins, errorless diversity switching and
spectrally efficient QAM modulation. Each product can be
managed by ProVision(TM), the Company's open-standards-based,
highly scalable network management system.
