I have the answer...having worked in a number of fast food joints in my lifetime (so I can really relate when people on Yahoo tell me to go back to flipping burgers), the reason the fries at BK now suck is due to the fact that they switched from using animal lard (tasty as hell, that stuff) to wholesome and tasteless vegetable oil...kinda like the diff between eating a great burger and a tofu burger.
