HHL.a/tse . . .Globe says Hurricane ex-CEO seek $2.4-million compensation Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd HHL.A Shares issued 44,512,359 Oct 18 close $2.53 Tue 19 Oct 99 In the News The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Oct. 19, edition that the lengthy list of creditors lined up to collect debts from Hurricane Hydrocarbons includes former chief executive officer John Komarnicki, who is seeking $2.4-million for allegedly being fired a year ago. The Globe's Steven Chase writes that Mr. Komarnicki filed an affidavit in the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench several months ago declaring himself a creditor and demanding $2.4-million in back pay and compensation. Hurricane is under protection from creditors and needs bondholders to approve its plan to get back on its feet. A group representing nearly three-quarters of outstanding bonds recently applied to an Alberta court to remove court protection and force the company into bankruptcy. Bondholders would get nearly all of the company if Hurricane's attempt to restructure itself falls apart. Mr. Komarnicki abruptly left the helm of Hurricane on Oct. 15, 1998, after more than nine years in the post as CEO and president.
