No, I don't think NN sold an affiliate to ALA. But Alcatel got the SBC contract back in 1996 as part of the Joint Procurement Consortium. It'll be interesting to see how much this current roll-out represents. The published estimate is a bit high, IMHO.

For NN, there's a lot of switching needed to support DSL. And at some point, when SBC rolls out the advanced services, they'll need NN's 350 solutions.

Today's IBD has an interesting article on Silicon Valley and the growth of the Internet, but it's not online yet. In a nutshell, it's a revolution and we're just at the beginning.
