mr.mark, a few days ago I reported that about 200 files are open right after booting. After surfing for a while, getting off the internet and having no more open programs than right after booting, over 300 files were open.

Apparently some programs that were closed did not close all files they had had open. Sloppy housekeeping.

For me, 200 files open describes the 'just booted' feeling.

With memturbo, this situation improves. After getting off the internet there may be about 270 files open. I may write this down over a period of a few days.

Newly installed programs can take a while to reveal their downside, if any.
