Microsoft clearly sees that as an issue for them also
as they have repeatedly stated that they don't see their
current growth rate as sustainable long term as it is
based on the willingness of business to continue to
upgrade software which they even view as becoming
problematic (hence their attempts to branch out w/ MSN,
MSNBC and now Webtv-potentially the real america
online). Intel probably faces a similar task convincing
businesses to continually upgrade ie witness recent
remarks in press with Intel warning US and Europe they
are falling behind Asia in buying the latest computers.
Another issue is the allocation of corporate resources
to the year 2000 problem. Bill Fleckenstein a short
seller mentioned this a week ago on CNBC and the latest
crn.com talks about how corporations have been slow to
get up to speed on this issue.
