Thanks for your thoughtful and stimulating response. However we may differ on what constitutes 'set top box technology'. Hey, that's not unusual - everybody have differing views on what this will consist of: DVD, obviously, will have pride of place, perhaps a digital TV rather than a digital PC (we differ here), a telecommunications link in some form and (I think) some form of what we now call a 'video game console'. Don't get me wrong. PCs will still be huge but increasingly they will be part of an office (and as lap tops) part of the traveller and remote access worker but I doubt if it will be a pillar of the average household since the game console will be able to handle all the spreadsheet, word processing, e-mail delivery and composing that may be needed by the usual household of the 21st century. But does interactive entertainment and household budgeting and correspondence come together? I think yes and I believe you think no.
