Gateway 2000, Inc. (Nasdaq: GATE) a leading direct marketer of
personal computers and convergence products, today announced
expansion of its line of Destination(TM) Big Screen PC/TVs to include
systems optimized for commercial use.

"Commercial customers have a wide variety of uses for a well
designed convergence product like the Destination Big Screen PC/TV.
Optimizing products for this segment is a natural extension of our
direct business model and an important element of our expanding
presence in the commercial and corporate space," said Bill Shea,
vice president of major accounts.

The Gateway 2000 Destination Big Screen PC/TV combines the power
of a PC with features that make it a superior alternative to
conventional classroom or boardroom presentation devices. The system
offers a 31" VGA monitor for viewing crisp, clear text and graphics
by multiple users, while the TV/VGA card permits the user to easily
connect external video sources such as cable TV, VCR and DBS. The
radio-frequency wireless keyboard and Field Mouse(R) remote control
give the users freedom of movement during presentation, while the
internal 33.6bps fax/modem facilitates quick internet access. This
tightly integrated approach allows users to take their presentations
and lesson plans to a new level.

"We've been shipping the Destination system for nearly a year.
As the pioneer product in this category the Destination system is `at
home' in the boardroom, classroom and living room," said Dave Berger,
director of product marketing - Americas region. "Expanding the
Destination platform strengthens our already significant leadership
position in the convergence market."

The new Destination commercial line, available for sale on April
14th, offers processors from an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 166MHz processor
with MMX(TM) technology to a 200MHz Pentium Pro(TM) processor.
Standard configurations range in price from $2,999 to $3,899.
Commercial Destination systems include a minimum of 32MB of memory,
Boston Acoustics MicroMedia(TM) three piece speaker set, and a
3Com(R) 10 Base T/100 Base TX network card. An Iomega(R) external
ZIP(TM) drive will come standard on D5-200 and D6-200 systems.
Microsoft(R) Office 97 Small Business Edition application software is
included, and an upgrade to Office `97 Professional Edition is
available. Accessories such as a Storm Technologies(R) EasyPhoto
Drive(TM) Scanner and/or color printer can also be included at the
point-of-sale.
