The business that Datametrics specializes is a strong and fast-growing area (albeit somewhat mundane).... trouble is there are larger and stronger competitors (not so much better products) and this is where Zitel has had problems in the past. I recently noticed Datametrics has added a number of their recognizable customer names finally to their website (http://www.datametrics.com/ then select "successes"). A buddy of mine's corporate headquarters selected Novell's Managewise (http://corp.novell.com.au/products/managewise/onlinedemo.html). My buddy works for a $20BB+ company and they bought because of their commitment to Novell in other software. So far they are happy with Novell's product and praise the need for monitoring it filled. Incidentally, if you bring up this URL, Managewise sure looks like a knockoff of Datametrics (or vice versa).

Another competitor, CCRD, has a kick-ass PR department if not the clients and product. They seem to talk a good show. You may want to peruse their press releases.

But it's still a young and growing field. IMHO Datametrics has got a good shot but it'll be a battle won by who you know and who can get in to see whom. Let's hope Mr. Bursk can put a program together and build on a strong, respected brand name.
