TO ALL CONCERNING RECENT PROBLEMS WITH QUOTE ACCURACY:
While I am in the process of moving all securities to other brokerage accounts, I have had occassion to sell some in the past couple of days. Each time I would notice that the bid/ask/volume and time showing on the place order screen would be inaccurate. This may well be the same error that others have recently reported on this thread.
An example of one such error today was an order which I completed on screen at 3:54 ET while the bid/ask/volume of the stock was .028/.030/380,000. Yet, a few seconds later when I was asked to confirm the placement of the order the time was shown as 3:34 ET with the bid/ask/volume showing .029/.030/355,000.
The customer service representative I spoke with transferred my call to the software department where I spent about 20 minutes on the phone. Finally, after explaining and discussing the problem and extended long periods of hold, a Software Supervisor joined me on the phone.
It appears that several software experts in different offices were able to duplicate the problems and they finally realized they have a software problem. (Realizing you have a problem is the first step towards solving it! <g>)
The supervisor assured me the software people were taking this problem very seriously and were beginning to research the matter, attempting to isolate the problem and resolve it.
All that I spoke with during this matter were very polite and concerned with the problem. Now, let's just hope they can identify and resolve it as soon as humanly possible.
In the meantime, be cautious of any quotes/volumes or times showing on the place order screens. If you place a trade, print out the screen and manually write the correct information in case you need to challenge a trade later on.

BTW, it appears the problem does not impact the Trading Desk area, only resulting when you are entering orders from the standard order screen. |
