Ashok Leyland 1HFY2000 sales up 28%

ashokleyland.com

According to reports in leading newspaper, Ashok Leyland posted 28% sales growth over the period April-September 1999.

Ashok Leyland is the second largest manufacturer of medium/heavy commercial vehicles (M/HCVs) with 34% market share.......

The 40% diesel hike was passed on by commercial vehicle operators to the consumers and freight rates on certain routes have firmed up considerably. This could lead to increased investment by fleet operators, which could see some buoyancy in CV sales.

Market view:

Ashok Leyland's encouraging sales growth in 1HFY2000, after a period of slowdown over the past two years has infused confidence among analysts who have flagged it as a 'BUY'.
