Talk : Misc (Tech): Can an SI Thread Move the Market? Let's Try!

Started By: J. Stone

Many of us seem to feel that certain threads and posters on SI have the ability to move a stock, but has this ever really been put to the test?

Well, let's give it a try here! Once a week, until the end of the year, I will chose a stock and post it on this thread. Readers can then buy in, and immediately thereafter fan out across SI, Yahoo!, Raging Bull and every other financial message board and tell the world!

We can then monitor the true power of the Internet and SI. At the end of every Monday, I'll post the day's high and low, and we can then discuss the relative successes (if any) of our efforts.

*** The Rules ***

1. I will post my pick every Monday morning, approximately ten minutes after the market opens. (If Monday is a holiday, then I will post my pick on Tuesday.)

2. I will chose a stock below $10 (and preferably one below $5).

3. I will chose a NASD listed stock. (No pennies!)

4. I will chose a stock that historically has had a low daily volume, and one that hasn't moved recently.

5. I will not tell anyone what my pick is prior to my posting it. (So do not private message me and ask, as I will not respond.)

6. I will not buy any of the stocks I pick. (Cynics need not respond...)

Can this work? My guess is that it can, but it will take you, the faithful SI member, to get the word out about this thread. In order for us to succeed, we need members here every Monday morning, browsers loaded and ready to buy.

Join me in making this exercise a success...
