Bombardier Receives an Order for 21 Low-Floor
Street-Trams From the City of Linz (Austria)

OCTOBER 20, 1999
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Bombardier Transportation was awarded a contract
from the transport authority of Linz (Austria) for the delivery of
21 low-floor street-trams type Cityrunner. The order is valued at
approximately Cdn $72 million (620 million ATS) and includes an
option for 18 additional vehicles. Should the option be
exercised, the total order would amount to some Cdn $134 million
(1.15 billion ATS).
The 100 % low-floor street-tram will be developed and manufactured
by Bombardier Transportation in Vienna (Austria). ELIN EBG
Traction, of Austria, will be responsible for the electrical
portion. The delivery of the first vehicle of this contract that
reaffirms the success of Bombardier Transportation's Cityrunner
concept is planned for September 2001.
