IDS Announces Major New Power Control Orders

Toronto, Ontario--

State-of-the-art systems keep lines of communication open in
times of crisis

Toronto-based IDS Intelligent Detection Systems today announced
$1 million in new orders for some of its most unique and
in-demand products for the power sector: the Post Accident
Communications System, a highly-reliable tool which provides
crucial communications abilities in the event of a power plant
accident, even if all other systems fail; and, the Plant Display
System, a state-of-the-art computer system which displays
important plant operation details on several large screen
displays.

The products are manufactured by IDS Power Control Systems, a
division of IDS which specializes in leading-edge,
custom-designed control room instrumentation for nuclear reactors
and other electricity-generating plants.

"I'm most pleased that our power control division is gaining a
significant market share with these important products," says Dr.
Mariusz Rybak, chairman and CEO, IDS.

As well, Ontario Power Generation has placed a series of orders
to replace aging relay modules its plants' safety shutdown
systems and IDS Power Control Systems has negotiated a deal to
provide routine spares to Ontario Power Generation to reduce its
operational overhead.

"This is an important program for us because it will extend over
the next few years and we may well be able to sell similar
modules to power plants throughout the world," says Rybak.

IDS is a dynamic developer, manufacturer and marketer of
sophisticated detection devices and systems. The company operates
through seven business units: Analytical & Security products and
solutions, IDS Power Control Systems, Scintrex Earth Science
Instrumentation, Survey & Exploration Technology Services, IEC
(Integration, Engineering and Consulting), ChemiCorp
International and Caduceon Inc. Its more than 70 products range
from drug and explosive detectors to nuclear safety control
instruments, oil and gas exploration and developing technologies
for industrial process control and point-of-care health analysis.
