Barry, you can't tell. there it becomes a matter of the motives and intentions of the artist and do you want to support them. I'm not litenings to Occultic instrumentals. There is that type of instrumentals. If the artist hates God.. then i would not by his work. I'm not saying that musicains need to be perfect. Don't hold them to standards that you cannot even keep. they are people and have faluts. You can take songs written by Who/KISS and alot of other groups and they can be sung with the same words or maybe a few words changed and be perfectly christian and acceptable because the chrsitain artist meant the intentions of the lyrics different. You have to use your heart. it will never lie. But, from age zero my kids never were exposed to any secular music. I'm reaping the benefits now that they are teens. Two year olds love Odeseye and Salty..especially Salty. The principle I use for this is what I've mentioned. Guard your eye and ears they are portals to your heart and soul. If kids are trained from zero up.. they will eventually be able to think for themselves. That's what you want. you don't want to contantly have to tell them or force them to do it your way. you want to be able to turn them loose and know they will make the right decision. and when they hear something from their freinds or in a tv show or movie . My teens get alot more freedom than many teens becuase i can trust them to make good decisions for them self. Think for themself. evaluate what someone is telling them and line it up with scripture and make the right decision... they ask my advice many times... but when a friend says your dad is wrong. they defend me and line things up with the word and are not moved. this is why I can trun them loose and let them think for themselves. say to themsleves that's wrong. I don't accept that. I take control of that and cast it out. Now they do't have to blast their freinds for listening to it. They can witness with a lifestyle better. More of my teens freinds have come to Jesus becasue my teens were just there and were open to them asking questions without condenming their music or whatever. Now if i could just get them to clean their rooms<g> oh well. Salty music for your two yr old and odessey will bring you rewards later that are worth more than any stock going from 10 to 1000. I never had to tell my teens don't listen to Miheal jackson or watch MTV. One of the teens does a lot of babysitting. She passed out flyers in the neighborhood. "I WATCH YOUR KIDS WHILE YOU ARE GONE NOT MTV I LISTEN AND TALK TO YOUR KIDS NOT MY BOY FREINDS WHILE OUR ARE GONE" SHE HAS 5 TO 10 OFFERS TO BABYSIT EVERYWEEK.... EVEN THE WORLD SEES FRUIT IN HAVING SOMEONE LIKE THAT WATCH THEIR KIDS. i HAD TO GET HER A PHONE AND PHONE LINE AND VOICEMAIL BECASUE i GOT TRIED OF ALL THE CALLS<G> God bless. Ps many classicals are very godly.. in fact most is. I love calssical... but I love ROCK.
