Just as well, since commodity priced PC parts are always failing. The competitive nature of the PC marketplace means that the components you can buy are of lower quality than those that Sun put into their boxes. Hard-disks, in particular, seem to fail often. And WindowsNT workstation has no mechanisms for mirroring critical disks. NT server can in theory RAID disks, but does not make mirroring easy.
Cloning the BOOT sectors is particularly nasty, and requires use of third party tools like Ghost, which requires extra administration work. So again we have lower-cost parts, better availability, poorer quality, and greater running costs.
