Whether Athlon 700 outperforms Cumine 733 is pretty much irrelevant - for the consumer lower megahertz = slower processor. AMD knows this and will not let Intel steal their Athlon thunder if at all possible.

We have seen indications that there are 750s out there already, but what AMD does not want to do is muddy the waters by allowing rumors of the 750 BEFORE the Cumine 733 is announced. I predict that the 750 announcement will be close on the heels of Intel's announcement next week.

As Paul so rightly points out, you don't have to have too many of the processors on shelves to take the wind out of a competitors sails with an up-staging announcement.

The only concern I have is that I think Intel are also playing their cards very close to the chest at present and we may see a pre-emptive announcement from them (Cumine 766?).

What fun.

And go MSFT!
