NEW DELHI: RSS chief Prof. Rajendra Singh alias Rajju Bhaiya has said his organisation was not against the forthcoming india visit of Pope John Paul II but the Roman Catholic pontiff should not "belittle" hindu religion and project chirstianity as superior, reports PTI.
"He (the pope) will have to take into consideration the religious sentiments of the host nation. If he tries to belittle our religion and project his religious practices as superior, then it will not be the correct intent of his visit," singh told television programme "Subah Aaj Tak", according to a release from the producers.
While Singh maintained that he was not against the pontiff's three day visit to New Delhi commencing november five, he said RSS was opposed to religious conversions. "We are free to propagate our religion. The constitution provides for that. But to convert people, to make them give up their own religion and adopt another religion is not right. We are against it," he said.
Earlier, the RSS chief had said the pope, during his visit, should not proclaim christianity as the only way to salvation |
