No, I'm sure that the middle two digits in this case do not correspond to the year of birth.

Here's how I know:

using www.ancestry.com, I checked 16 social security numbers that were consecutive (in the last 4 digits) with Reed's. These numbers all had the same first 7 digits, including the same two middle digits. For the 9 people who were already dead, the birthdate is shown in the online records. All 9 of the deceased had a different birth year. Yet they had the same two middle digits.

So Janice, it looks like you had a coinkydink.
