"game consoles" give a bit more then "pong" or "pacman".......whole house entertainment is what pc makers should strive for....but it must be simplistic, not geared toward a techie, i'm too familiar with japan inc., gtw/aol venture creates simplicity for a new user, same with an imac...the average person has difficulty with the internet, too much to grasp...japan inc learned this human psychology many years ago...give the consumer choices, but not too many, and direct the consumer to what ultimately benefits the manufacturer....the average consumer buys a computer for entertainment...give him a great deal of entertainment and you can sell your product at a higher price...
friend of mine, educated, graduate degrees bought her first computer, 500mhz cpq p3 machine. gave up the compuserve rebate, signed on to aol, plays music cd's and solitaire...believe she is typical...
