Miramar Mining Corporation - NP says Taseko eyes Miramar Miramar Mining Corporation MAE Shares issued 56,693,804 1999-10-20 close $0.93 Thursday Oct 21 1999 See Taseko Mines Ltd (TKO) In the News The National Post reports in its Thursday, Oct. 21, edition that Taseko Mines, a Vancouver junior run by promoters Robert Hunter and Robert Dickinson, wants to merge with Miramar Mining in a $113-million deal that represents a 100 per cent premium over Miramar's share price. The National Post's John Schreiner writes that Mr. Hunter expects to receive more than the necessary support from Miramar shareholders. He hopes the merger can be completed on a "co-operative basis." He says Taseko will require the Miramar board of directors to support the planned merger in the form of an agreement which would include a breakup fee in the event the merger is unsuccessful. The Miramar board has not yet responded to the overture, but it is expected to say the proposal seriously undervalues Miramar. The company is also believed to be working on a deal of its own that would make it unattractive to Taseko. Miramar, which has 57 million share outstanding, had $59-million in cash at June 30.
