Global One Announces New Global Managed ATM
Service Plus Major Customer Orders for Global ATM

Over US$20 Million in New Business for Industry-leading ATM Solution, Now Available in More
Than 40 Countries With New End-to-end Managed Service Option

BRUSSELS, Belgium, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Global One, recently awarded ``Best Carrier 1999' by
CommunicationsWeek International, today announced a new Global Managed ATM service as well as extended coverage
and major customer orders for its industry-leading Global ATM solution.

Global ATM customers needing a fully managed solution can now choose Global Managed ATM, an end-to-end service by
which Global One manages customer premise equipment (CPE), using high-performance PackStar(TM)access concentrators
from Lucent Technologies and the Nortel Passport platform. Global Managed ATM frees customers from the expense and
complexity of managing their own ATM CPE. As an end-to-end solution, Global One takes full responsibility for configuring,
installing, maintaining, and managing the ATM CPE at each site, providing comprehensive monitoring and reporting through the
local and Global Customer Service Center systems.

Simultaneously, Global ATM coverage is expanding rapidly. With service availability in over 850 cities in more than 40
countries, Global ATM offers customers the widest coverage and largest capacity available for interconnecting their offices
worldwide. A recently announced agreement between Global One and Singapore Telecom (SingTel) distinguishes Global One
as the first international carrier to provide end-to-end international ATM service to the fast-growing Singapore market. In
Canada Global ATM is now available in 20 additional cities through a partnering agreement with Sprint Canada. Other
countries and cities are slated for service before the end of the year.

Launched in October, 1998, Global ATM has already been selected by such important multinationals as Nortel Networks,
Bridge Systems, and MOST (Israel).

``To meet the tremendous demand for Global ATM and other data services, indicated by over US$20 million in new ATM
orders, we have already added six gigabits per second of capacity to our ATM-based backbone and plan to add another six
gigabits over the coming months,' said Tom Wyrick, vice president for data services. ``We are also expanding service to such
high-growth markets as Singapore and are providing a new fully managed ATM solution in response to the need for integrated
Enterprise Network solutions to handle increasingly convergent technologies.'

``The Global One rapid expansion of service to more countries and cities over a high-speed backbone and its ability to offer
managed ATM services demonstrates leadership in bringing ATM services to international users,' said Cathy Gadecki,
director of consulting at Telechoice. ``This is clearly good news for high-volume multinational businesses seeking to simplify on
a global scale all of their international telecommunications programs.'

Global ATM offers customers a cost-effective, state-of-the-art broadband solution that operates on the industry's most
extensive ATM-based backbone network, carrying voice, data, and IP traffic simultaneously at speeds from 1.5Mbps to
155Mbps. Provided seamlessly by Global One and its three shareholders, the high-speed, broadband capabilities of Global
ATM allow companies to reduce their network costs while adding flexibility to meet their mission-critical communications
requirements.

Global ATM operates on a single, self-healing network, which is monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Leading-edge
network automation systems provide around-the-clock automated fault protection. The network carries out automated
pro-active monitoring, automated testing and diagnosis, and automated corrective actions.

Global ATM delivers high-speed bandwidth on demand and virtual networking, while two categories of service provide
efficient, cost-effective support of both time-sensitive and non-real time applications over the same network. The CBR
(Constant Bit Rate) category of service supports applications such as voice and private line applications, which require tight
timing and fixed bandwidth, while the VBR-nrt (Variable Bit Rate -- non-real time) category of service supports ``bursty'
applications, such as LAN interconnections.

Global ATM customers are covered by the Global Guarantee program, the most comprehensive set of standard Service Level
Agreements (SLAs) available today. It includes clear commitments by Global One as to network availability, installation
intervals, and repair times. The strong customer focus of Global One is reflected in its recent award of 'Best Carrier 1999' in
CommunicationsWeek International magazine's annual survey of enterprise users. Global One was a clear winner in the
categories of quality of service and reliability.

Global One offers a single source for the provision of seamless voice, data and IP services for businesses, carriers and
consumers around the world. Set up as a worldwide joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint, Global
One is a fully integrated company in its own right, with over 1,400 network access centers in more than 65 countries. Global
One offers the world's most far-reaching ATM-based network and in 1998 had revenues of more than US$ 1.1 billion.
