SI, there was a posting yesterday re the new company, Zhone, established by Ascend's heavy hitters, Mory Ejabat, Jeannette Symons and Bob Dahl. They are about to receive $500MM in new funding from major investors for the purpose of acquisitions, and a major announcement regarding their first was to be made today but was scrubbed at the last minute since, it's rumored, the parties could not come to terms. Per RedHerring, the target company has heavy expertise in fiber optics. Hmmmmmmm... And that same story indicates that Zhone is advertising for employees not just in Oakland but in Westlake Village, CA and in the Boston area. Gee, Ascend had facilities in each or nearby.
