RE:"With interest rates rising, and Mr. Greenspan talking about
slowing the economy by lowering folks portfolio value, eventually the
public might get the idea that the best risk/reward is in bonds. "...
I think we got a taste of that last week when one day bonds were the object of a flight to quality. Happened in a big way in the days following the '87 crash.
Seems to me that a recessionary scenario would tie into stock money moving into bonds, if the recession was interest rate induced and interest rates were significantly high. This is the way it's worked in the past, hooked into keynesian cyclical theory. Most of my trading success on the years has been predicated on this although in recent years much of this cyclicality has been removed from the market by a low rate of increasing inflation, AG and the demographic pouring of money into retirement accounts by the baby boomers.
Perhap AG will be reluctant to hike in light of Y2K and allow the bubble to expand further.
Nice comeback today in some of the techstocks particularly Intel. Started about 2:30 ET after the bond market closed nears it's lows...

Regards, Jim
