Re: VON conference exhibitors: Salix/Sonus Networks

Howdy Chris,

In response to your rhetorical question here's my real (sic) answer. As you well know, weekends are for research. I'm considering getting a midweek pass to the Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort just so I can save my weekends, for more research and fewer lift lines. Of course this will put a crimp in my daytrading, but one must have his priorities straight! Research first, recreation second, gambling last. <vbg>

Now on to more pressing matters. The new Jeff Pulver email mentioned a couple of vendors who were exhibiting at the VON conference.

Salix: salix.com

Sonus Networks: sonusnet.com

Since I know absolutely nothing about these two other than the brief glimpse I've had at their Websites, I wonder if you, Frank or any of the other usual suspects have any more intimate knowledge of what these switchmeisters are up to.
I particularly like the Sonus "story" with 'softswitch' capabilities and a fresh relationship with GBLX. Comments welcomed.

Chris, I've just read the Wirbel piece on processors. Quite interesting. I hadn't previously realized the degree of integration that Vitesse and AMCC are achieving in their product lines. Do you see them at some point competing with their customers, LU and NT?

Best, Ray
