You fail to recognize the sailient point here. By and large, there is no issue that I wish to influence that can be acted upon by civil disobedience. I think Jesse Helms is an idiot and morally repugnant for holding up UN funding to further his own goals. What can I do about it? In case you haven't been watching (reading, listening to, etc.) the news recently, I have no influence over his decision. The most effective form of protest I have is over the internet. I can't have an effective sit in to protest foreign policy, can I. Besides, I feel that domestic injustices have largely been cleared up. I help out with community service, but how can I make a difference with regard to welfare reform? Things have changed. Your generation reacts to financial pressures primarily. Protests are simply not as effective any more. Washington has at least three a day. I act on my convictions to the best of my ability. Tell me how I can do better.
PS - You were suspended for wearing a black armband? That was ruled unconstitutional in Tinker vs. Des Moines during Vietnam.
