People will claim to be honest, but most of the time if a scam is resulting in profits to their pocket, they will ignore it. Nearly everyone has a relative who pushes amway or some other multi-level marketing fraud in their passtime. Internet stocks just allow the average joe to do the same thing without getting their hands dirty. But believe me, when the scam collapses, those same people will not wait one second before calling for the arrest of the internet execs and VCs who were the ones busily breaking the law.
