You are full of it.. misinformation...

If you were really familiar with Ebay your would know that they were operating on NT for some time... this few hours a week thing is the same as they've had all along. When they were on NT they couldn't even close keep up with demand. They would shut down different aspects of their service so they wouldn't be as overloaded. As an example they shut down past auction results and searches. This was while they were using Win NT. I followed their announcement boards quiet close during this time. They said stuff like "we are having problems with our NT servers and the working on getting a patch from Microsoft" ... Then a few weeks later they announced that all the problems would soon be taken care of as they were looking at getting large powerful servers from Sun Microsystems... I even posted to this thread with clips from Ebay's announcement page when they made reference to getting a Starfire server from Sun and made a crack like "beam me up Scottie".. Ebay's problems on Sun were related to their own technical problems, not Suns. On the initial problem they had failed to install a patch which was release from Sun at an earlier Date. Also Ebay didn't have a backup system in place..this wasn't Sun's decision this was Ebay's... Shortly after the problems they announced they were in the process of working on a hot back up system... I remember that Ebay let go their top CIS executive a few months later... This was all hashed out here before and you are dead WRONG....and as another on the thread put it, you're also "irrelevant"..so go away little man.
