Shalom, this is legal. as long as you don't claim it on your income tax. your church will not get in trouble.
But, they are required to 1099 all gifts now and it's the law.
If you are in the 25% tax bracket and you give 10000 and you don't claim it on your taxes. that is okay.
but.... you are giving God's money to the gov't then. Infact you are giving 2500 dollars to the gov't instead of the poor.
I give my tax savings on my giving to the poor.
I hate giving it to a congress that waste money the way they do.
But, this is an individual preference if you want to give it to the gov't instead this should be honored and not criticized.
So, i have no problem with it.... even though you are supporting
a senator's retirement that is 120k a yr<g>

The IRS is the only entity that has full disclosure on my giving.
I talk about it on SI becuase they don't know me.
None of my freinds know anything about amts.
and our last pastor and this pastor WILL NOT LOOK AT THE TITHE RECORDS.
THE CONSIDER THAT UNGODLY TO LOOK AT WHAT PEOPLE GIVE AND THEY DON'T WANT TO KNOW. They have a clerk and administrator and auditors only becasue they go to jail if they don't account for it.
that's it. I pick the church so I got to pick a church that did it this way.

The same is always true.
God and money or music or praying in tongues and a few other things is always a issue... but it casues me no division and I never let anything like that divide.
