September 13, 1999: E-Business Contract Win: Ontario Energy Board Awards Calian - Significant Contract to Develop Electronic
Regulatory Filing - E-Process Initiative
Calian Technology Ltd. is pleased to announce that as a result of a public tendering process, it has been awarded
a significant contract with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to implement the core infrastructure and systems to
support the OEB's Electronic Regulatory Filing (ERF) e-business initiative. ERF will provide the OEB's
energy-industry stakeholders with the ability to submit information to the OEB electronically.
The contract involves the implementation of a secure document management system, automated web publishing,
and secure Internet access supported by internal authoring, management and administration. This system will
manage large volumes of confidential and non-confidential information such as applications for gas pipeline
construction.
Internet-based access will provide the general public with extensive capabilities for viewing public documents,
and will provide registered stakeholders in regulatory hearings with additional capabilities, such as secure access
to confidential documents.
"This major contract with the OEB provides an excellent base for building Calian's presence in the delivery of
e-business solutions," commented Richard Schreier, Vice President Professional Services Division. He went on to

for Calian customers who want to capitalize on using the web as a significant component of their business

This contract will integrate a variety of commercial, off-the-shelf software, including LivePage Enterprise
(LivePage Corporation), Astoria (Chrystal Software), and authoring tools, as well as developing a unique software
gateway to enable the secure transfer of information from the OEB's internal server to its web server. Calian
complemented it's own strong Document Management practice by assembling a unique team for the project. Key
strategic players include Sound Foundation Inc, providing technical architecture and design services and SAIC
(US), providing cross product integration support.
