YAHOO post from dr. attending ISRS conference :

Report from the ISRS meeting
by: i_fix_eye
Greetings from rainy Orlando. I've been off this board for several days due to travel, but just finished the opening session today at the ISRS. Interesting talk by Dr. Jack Holladay about the quality of vision post laser, and why a prolate shaped cornea is much better than an oblate cornea (produced by LASIK). Why lasik performs poorer in the higher myopic ranges, and causes glare and haloes, especially in large pupil cases.
Dr. David Shanzlin presented Intacs technique and results, and got more applause than any of the other speakers. Dr. Michael Knorz spoke on the indications for various refractive procedures and listed Intacs prominently as one of the preferred modalities for low myopia (he relegated PRK to the dustbin!).
The wet-labs for Intacs tomorrow are all crowded, and I am waiting for Saturday's session where the PRK, LASIK, and Intacs will go "on trial". It will be interesting to see the audiences votes.
My office has informed me that we are getting 5-6 calls a day for Intacs, in response to last Sunday's ad.
It has been a very long day, so I will sign off now. Planning on buying more KERA tomorrow. Good night!
