Now there is speculation that Northrop Grumman may be ripe for a take over. Again there is talk that a suitor may be non-US. Maybe the entire defense industry will go up on this speculation... ? Here is a clip from Biz Week:

Northrup Grumman Prime For Picking -- Business Week
NEW YORK - With its stock price down a third to 54 from a July high of 75, Northrop Grumman, the No. 4 U.S. weapons and aircraft maker, may be ready to be swept up by a U.S. or European competitor, according to BusinessWeek.

Analyst Joseph Nadol of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities, told BusinessWeek Northrop's intrinsic value is about 136 a share and his 12-month target for the company's stock price is 80.

With the Pentagon's recent indication that it would allow a transatlantic merger with defense contractors, one New York money manager who has been acquiring shares, told the magazine in its Nov. 1 issue, that a likely suitor would be British Aerospace Plc. Another analyst told BusinessWeek, that General Dynamics Corp. would be a suitable U.S. suitor.
