NEW YORK, April 10 (Reuter) - Ascend Communications Inc was one of several high-technology stocks trading lower after the bell on Thursday after releasing first quarter financial results, traders said. Ascend "was down a little bit," trading at 46-1/4, one dealer said. Ascend closed at 46-3/8, down 1-3/8 on the day. Later the company reported first quarter results that included net income per share of $0.27 after a one-time charge, compared to $0.15 for the same period the year before. Cascade Communications Corp (NASDAQ:CSCC) was trading at 30-1/4 after closing at 30-3/8, down one during regular trading hours. Cascade reported a net loss of $2.13, including a charge, compared to a profit profit of $0.11 for the same quarter the year before. Cascade's first quarter operating net profit was $0.15 per share. Also falling after the bell was Western Digital Corp (NYSE:WDC), trading at 65-7/8 after closing at 66-1/8. The stock had dropped 2-1/4 during regular trading hours. Western reported third quarter net income of $1.76 per share, compared to $0.42 for the same period the year before. The New York Stock Exchange said session one volume was 900, compared to 13,600 on Wednesday. Session two volume was 4,547,300, while on Wednesday it was 17,510,978. |
