To All,
Firstly, I like the Title "Desert Dirt Gold Rush"...
Secondly, I do recall articles some time ago written about the vintage 1800's laws allowing modern mining outfits to scoop up minerals for a song and then sell them off for a fat profit (little or none of the proceeds going to compensate the taxpayers). If I am off base here, someone please correct me. One article in particular mentioned that the big issue seemed to be with multinational or foreign companies coming in here, mining the ore and ending up exporting their profits back home or something to that effect-again with little or no share for Uncle Sam. Until now, I had completely forgotten about it and now it is giving my an upset stomach! Who is to say that President Clinton, in the name of Wilderness preservation, declares certain Federal Lands verboten to mining, logging, or cattle-ranching at some point? He did it recently, and if it will distract people from his other problems, he could do it again-in my opinion. I hate to ask it but ask I must... Could this issue be the next cloud on the horizon for U.S. mining in general-the Desert Dirts included? What do you all think? Tempest in a teapot? BTW-I own shares in MXAM, MRHI, IPMCF, AND GPGI. I don't mean to be a downer, but I hope someone with more mining savvy (I have very little) can clear this up for me. TIA!
