Starting from a clean disk ... When you wish to wipe your disk and start over, you'll need some way of starting your computer when the hard disk is empty. A bootable floppy seems a straight forward way of doing this. Once the machine is booted, you'll need a way of getting your software installed. This usually means being able to read your CD drive. Again, configure your bootable floppy to support this requirement. Some of the files one should put on their bootable floppy ... Necessary ... MSDOS.SYS, IO.SYS, and COMMAND.COM required for booting. CONFIG.SYS to load drivers, as well as those drivers needed by your system. Almost necessary ... FORMAT.COM to format disks. FDISK.EXE to partition disks. May be really handy ... EDIT.COM in case you need to edit a file. ATTRIB.EXE in case you need to change attributes. Hope this helps, PW. P.S.
