OT: An epic struggle has erupted; quietly, but with brute force...
A contest is being staged by the Frank J. Zamboni Co. to pick a
winner who will resurface the ice at this year's NHL All Star
Game (being held at the Air Canada Center). There have been numerous
goof entries (e.g. Garth Brooks and Richard Petty??) but 2 serious
contenders have emerged into what is now amounting to a battle of good vs. evil, rather Canada vs. the U.S.

The choice of the American voters (and the city of Detroit has been
bribing them...) is Al Sobotka, the guy that works at the Joe Louis Arena. Canada's hope rests on the shoulders of one Jim 'Iceman'
MacNeil, who has been resurfacing at the Brantford Civic Center for
the past ~25 years.

Since the inaugural event in 1947, the All Star Game has not been
back to Toronto. Do we, as red-blooded, hockey loving
Canadians want an American, worse yet, from the Detroit Red Wings,
to sully our Blue and White soil with Red??? I think not.

The contest began a few weeks ago, and Jim held a massive lead,
thanks largely to word-of-mouth in the Brantford area - an area with a population of <100,000 people. Then, Detroit found out. Metro
Detroit, with its millions of people, has been inundated with radio,
TV, and newspaper ads urging for the voting of Al. Slowly, but steadily, Jim's lead has dwindled down to a mere 2000 votes.

It's now up to you, Canada. Your vote matters - as Princess Leia
said, "this is our most desperate hour"... You can cast your vote at zamboni.com; , but please only vote
once (they're checking IP addresses, and will disqualify multiple
votes).

Please pass this message on to as many others as you can think of we
must rally support.
