I would tend to agree that youth violent crime is not growing, but probably receding. However on the subject of overall crime, when you have police admit directly they do not investigate home burglaries and other crimes, it would seem logical they will go unreported, especially if they are not covered by insurance. Also violent crimes that are not consummated because of people being able and willing to defend themselves may also go unreported because of the complications brought into the lives of the potential victims.

The motivation of the police to report crimes they know they will never solve or have no resources to solve could be leading to "lower crime statistics". I'm not saying they are higher, it is just too soon to judge the results of a booming economy yet.
