Only a careful study of time and sales over the past month might provide an answer to the question about the manipulation of the shares to allow naked shorts to get out.

If the pattern of trading shows that the quantity of shares sold by the shorts is less than their subsequent buys this could be the case. This would mean that the legitimate players are really buying less than we suspect. The shorts would have to be scaring legitimate holders into selling more than legitimate buyers are buying. We, on the thread, only hear about buys.

Considering the excessive volume lately this would conform with much buying and selling by the same operator(s)

This is only a guess. I have doubts if this could really be engineered. My preferred hunch is that an effort to drive GPGI into bankruptcy is afoot.
