Robert, Todd,
<<6 million new shares at $5 a share! They are playing the financial version of the Donner party,>>

Interesting analogy except the Donner Party at least had the good grace to wait until someone died. These guys are eating live people (so to speak).

But Todd, I will take exception with your comment about putting a spin on their replies. I think it is worse then that in that their responses (as written in your summary) are just categorically wrong headed. For example, the notion that they will gain share as a result of the market awarding them some Yeoman's badge (and share) for the way they handled the recall. What an incredibly naive idea. And the notion that everything in the transfer to K.L. is great except that they are waiting for ICs to start product back up again. What the heck is that about I wonder? I also believe that the response re: contamination is just not true.

Anyway, as usual, many thanks for a great job of reporting. I am delighted you are still looking (and commenting on) the DD sector. I am thinking of taking the plunge on your old favorite: HMT. Before you laugh try to recall that one of my best short term bets (note: "bet", not investment)last year was a Komag buy.
Best,
Stitch
