Athlon 700 is priced around 664 bucks now. Price 750 at 800 ish, solve all the problem.

The race you described is won on the merit of cleverness when two being roughly equal. A real good leader backed by real strength will never let the other guy take over the lead.

AMD does have potential real strength, but not there yet.
