Hi Ray, not a PM.. but maybe a clarification, here. I shouldn't have singled out JNPR. I only used them because they are one of the front runners, IMO, of the lean new high capacity router makers. And they, too, have issues with getting their packet forwarding and router lookups to occur beyond a certain speed.

No matter how much silicon they use to displace code in software, there's always the dynamic nature of changing routes and routing processes (including policy decisions per flow, to name just one) that take place with a dependency on computing cycles running software. I by no means singled them out for any other reason. I don't know of any issues that would be considered especially problematic with Juniper, that other vendors aren't facing, specifically. Hope I've clarified this sufficiently, and sorry if I caused any confusion.
