First public Internet company in Quebec - NETgraphe Takes an Important Step Toward Becoming the First Public Internet Company in Quebec
MONTREAL, July 13 /CNW/ - NETgraphe Inc., owner and publisher of La Toile du Qu‚bec and many other publications on the Internet, recently took an important step toward becoming Quebec's first public Internet company. Shareholders of Ressource Cristobal Inc. today approved an agreement that the management teams of NETgraphe Inc. and their company reached in April. Under this agreement, the company's ownership, name and role would change. Shareholders approved the change of their company name to NETgraphe Inc. ``In less than three years, La Toile du Qu‚bec has become the most popular portal site in Quebec, with over two million visitors a month. With our expertise in the development and management of editorial material, as well as in Internet advertising, we can offer our clients a vast selection of exclusive products and services. We now plan to speed up our development in the Quebec market and export our expertise to other French- speaking parts of the world,' said Normand Drolet in his speech at the meeting of NETgraphe's new shareholders. In addition to La Toile du Qu‚bec, NETgraphe publishes other well-known products, including:
      - Multim‚dium, the largest French-language e-zine, specializing in information technologies; - M‚gagiciel, an index of over 6,000 freeware titles; - Econom‚dia, a business and finance e-zine that will soon provide its readers with access to on-line brokerage and personal finance management services.
Various forms of electronic commerce will be added to the product line that NETgraphe will be offering markets in Quebec and other French-speaking countries. NETgraphe also designs and develops portal sites for many companies such as Bell, Cinars, Les Grands Explorateurs, Galaxie, etc. ``We are currently developing electronic-commerce and financial-services projects that we will soon be able to offer our clients. These are rapidly expanding areas, and NETgraphe is poised to fully explore the potential of these markets in the French-speaking world,' said Marc Copti, director of development. Thanks to the development of its strategic alliance and partnership program with many international companies, NETgraphe has become the exclusive supplier of French-language content for software applications such as Monster, Restaurant.ca, Target Match and CamelotInfo. This strategy will be applied more extensively over the next few years. ``We will use our geographic location and international profile to continue positioning our company in US markets as a gateway to the French-speaking world. Our development strategy includes forming alliances with the top suppliers of English-language content for the Internet,' said Normand Drolet. Electronic commerce is expected to generate $1.6 billion in Quebec in 2003. With the popularity of La Toile du Qu‚bec and other NETgraphe sites, the company now holds approximately 15% of the Internet advertising market in Quebec. These results make NETgraphe the ideal partner for the development of electronic commerce geared toward the general public. NETgraphe is expected to complete its private financing of $2 million shortly and will then be listed on the Montreal Exchange. NETgraphe is an Internet publishing company that capitalizes on the business opportunities that the Internet offers in Quebec and the French-speaking world, for the distribution of content, advertising, electronic commerce and other site design, development and maintenance services.
